The chatbot provides answers to basic questions about COVID-19, such as, “What are the symptoms?” And, with the use of an automated system, the bot responds via text.

The software is programmed with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Once a patient reports having symptoms or has been to an area with an outbreak, Ro will connect the patient to its telehealth services to speak remotely with a licensed doctor.

Then, the telemedicine company will collaborate with the state health department once the doctor deems the patient is at high risk for COVID-19. The COVID-19 chatbot is being provided through various healthcare systems in the US.

Carriers sending coronavirus alerts

Amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the UK government has sought the help of mobile carriers to send emergency alerts. This is the first time the UK government ordered networks to reach their customers on its behalf.

Citizens are told to stay home and go out only when necessary, such as buying food, seeking medical help, or going to work. Apart from the reminder, the text also includes a link to the government’s coronavirus response website.
